“Music has always been a constant part of my environment. My parents are both musicians, my mother a flutist and my father a jazz pianist. It was just such a natural part of my world that I knew immediately music was going to be my life… as for the violin, it was the one instrument that I responded to as a child. I loved the way each violin had a different voice, a different personality.
I currently own three violins, and I’ve spent many years discovering what each one has to say. My first violin is the one that is most dear to me. I've had it since I was a teenager, so naturally I rely on this one the most. It was my first violin I played professionally. I take it everywhere now. It has a dark, rich voice, very warm and versatile. I think because I’ve had this violin the longest, I am able to coax it into doing more for me in a performance and it comes through for me every time.
My second violin is extremely friendly and outgoing. Very vibrant and sassy. It has great projection and a bright, bold voice that’s just perfect for large spaces or an outdoor setting.
My third violin is still new to me although I believe it’s the oldest of all my violins, but it fascinates me with its dark, silky voice. Almost bittersweet, I wonder where it’s been and what story it has to tell. It was given to me as a gift, an old violin that’s been sitting around for ages, waiting to be played. It’s perfect for quiet, intimate settings.” Lisa's schedule fills up fast throughout the year, so click here now to reserve your special day!
